Happy New Year Everyone!!!

On my behalf, I wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year! May 2009 brings you much happiness in health and prosperity. I wanted to wish you all a healthy and injury free 2009.

Two days ago, I took my wife and my two girls for a quick trip to Manhattan to see the Christmas Tree at the Rock. I also took them to Times Square to show the girls where the major celebration will take place.

Yesterday, I had my last run of 2008. It was kind of weird! I kept saying "Sheesh, this is my last run for the year of 2008." I ran from my house to the beach called Sea Bright. 4 1/2 miles to the beach and 4 1/2 miles back home. I took my blackbery pager with me and took the last picture of 2008.

I took the picture at 9:15 a.m. and it was quiet!!!

My final running mileage for 2008....

So far, I don't expect to change anything for 2009. I want to maintain the same way as I did for 2008. I still want to maintain my goal of 1,500+ miles for this year. I have two marathons to run this year and they are....

May 24, 2009 @ Burlington, Vermont (Registration: confirmed)

and October 26, 2009 @ Dublin, Ireland (Registration: apply in late spring)

As for the rest of the year, I have not decided which smaller races I should sign up. I am looking for new races or the one that I have not participated before. I am at the point where I am not interested in signing up the ones that I have already participated.

So all in all, HAVE A TERRIFIC 2009. Hope you all had a wonderful celebration last night. I am particular interested in following all of you - BLOGGERS - this year with your running progress and race reports.

The craziness of Time Square and a peaceful beach in such a short time. What a great way to bookend the year.

Best wishes in 2009!

At some point we have to run a race together.

No E. Murray Todd? No Indian Trails? No NJM? Dude! We have to collectively pick at least one local race that the NJ bloggers could meet at (although that would probably mean some uber competitve racing).

Oh, happy new year to you!

Make that injury-free wish retroactive to mid-November 2008, and I'm in, brother!

That's an insane number of miles you ran.

Here's a way to triple that in 2009: When you fly to Dublin, keep running back-and-forth in the plane's aisle. If you can keep that up for six hours till the plane lands, I think that technically would count for having run the entire 3100 miles.

Then, all you'd have to do is run 1500 land miles and, voila! You ran 4600 miles.

It's the perfect scam.

Happy New Year.

Ireland! I'm green with envy, brother! I was there 20 years ago and loved it.

Happy New Year Ted. Great mileage this year!! I was looking at Vermont as well, but there are so many choices, such a pretty state, and the Ireland marathon sounds amazing. All the best in 09, and I can't wait to read about all of your running adventures!

Hi Ted! Thanks for visiting my blog.

Sounds like you had a great year. Your 1500+ mileage goal is what I'm shooting for in 2009 too. I only got to 900 in 2008 though.

Dublin for a marathon, wow. How awesome is that!

Here's to a terrific 2009 for you and your family!

Happy New Year to you too. '09 better be better than '08 in every way except I'll be happy with my same running effort and success (injury-free and more miles than the year before).

Hi Ted!
Congrats on the miles :)

Burlington - is that the one with the ice cream at the end?

I would greatly appreciate any hotel recommendations. I'm dragging the whole clan up for the weekend :)

Hi Ted

It looks like you had a great '08 and congrats on all those miles. Your picture from your last run looked so peaceful and kind of made me reminisce about some of the quieter long runs I have done this year.

Dublin huh? I am so jealous.

Best of luck in '09 and I hope it rocks for you!

I think everyone should shoot for 2009 miles in 2009. It's fantastically cheesy.
