Full of Negatives !!!

What is wrong with me? I have been so full of negatives lately today. Call me a whiner! Call me a wuss! Call me a wimpy if you can! I feel like I am losing my momentum lately. I feel that September and October was the best month in term of my running. I have been making beautiful PRs left and right. I just feel like I hit a snag this morning.

I went out for my run this morning after I did my 13 miles run yesterday. I've felt my run was strong yesterday. I was battling against strong gutsy wind yesterday morning. This morning, it was a completely 360 degrees turn around. I've felt like I had nothing left in me when I was doing my four miles run. I was moving like a snail. My legs dead. I've tried to put my foot forward. Temperature dropping !!! Basically, I feel like SHIT!

Who wants to run tomorrow morning around 27 degrees? 27 degrees Wednesday. 29 degrees Thursday. WTF ! Where are the days of balmy 55 to 65 degrees? The feeling of nice warm air on your arms and legs. Who wants the feeling of icy air on your arms, legs and face (and ears)? Does it make you feel like you have asthma when sucking those cold air into your lungs?

This is my vision right now about this coming Sunday, November 23rd. It is my fifth marathon and my first in Philadelphia. I feel like calling it off and being in warm bed and just staring at this place below....

Ohhh man.. just come to think of this. Being in warm bed with a fireplace going on. My wife bringing me a cup of coffee with danish.
After eating Danish and sipping coffee, this is what I feel like having below....

After this.....
Who wants to run in Philadelphia Marathon with the freezing temperature when you think about being in warm bed with a roaring fireplace going on, warm danish with piping hot coffee and hot bubbly jacuzzi?? Have I lost my MOJO or what???

You are entitled to a whiney not feeling the greatest inside day once in a while. you have been doing great and you will get back to that!!!

You're not the only one buddy. I think there was a virus going through the running blog community this weekend. I read a lot of blogs that others were having heavy legs. I'm looking at it as... it can only get better next weekend!

Whoa, I was getting a little nervous to scroll down after the massage picture! LOL!

I am so with you. I have the same issues, but mine have been for the past 2 weeks. I want my legs back!!!! J and I are both just exhausted and blah. He has a cold and I feel like my legs have gained 70lbs a piece.

Hopefully things will look (and warm) up by Sunday.

You are going to love Philly. It will be the pick me up you need. I have been feeling the same way, but trust me its an AWESOME race!

Yeah it is getting kind of cold out there. I'm glad I'm swimming tomorrow. But Sunday will be great - steamy day compared to Tue and Wed. It will be a great race I'm sure and once we get going I do not expect to be cold in that huge crowd.

I hear you, buddy. It seems like a lot of people are hitting the runners blues lately.

Now snap out of it!

Think how much BETTER all that stuff will be AFTER you knock the marathon out! You know that feeling we all get right before an event ... the one that you have to push through. blyfinn is right, it will get better.

Now knock out some push-ups before your next run and foget about the coffee. I'm drinking it already!

I hear you, Ted. I'm not feeling too motivated to run my marathon either and it's nowhere near as cold here as it is in NJ.

My only advice is--fake it til you make it. Maybe if you pretend you like running in the cold, you can trick yourself into that mindset. Or not...

Once you get there Ted, you'll have your Mojo back and then some.

It is hard to run in sheet weather...even our blood flow is different, mine goes from flowing to sludge....

You'll be fine, just keep thinking warm thoughts...no, not that kind!! LMAO...

AND:
You can whine all you want!! We are here to listen!!

I think on Sunday, you will get caught up in the greatness that is running!!!

You rock you know!!!

I feel ya Ted.
I have been having the phantom pains in my ankles since after Saturday's run.
I know it's all mental.
Just remember how far you have come in your training, and come Sunday, it'll all have been worth it.
That's what I keep telling myself. Remember, you have run marathons before, so you know what to expect!

First off welcom back. I hear ya with the cold weather bs. It wasn't long ago that my morning running buddy and I were saying it's going to be nice when it's not 75 and humid at 6 a.m. Now I'm kicking myself, now it's 27 and freezing... but hey, those couple months where it was perfect were pretty nice.

Quit yer bitchin and get ready for Philly, dangit!

Sorry, that was the tough-love approach.

I hear ya. Cold weather sucks. Period.

I'm with spartan7 - snap out of it!

If it were easy it would be easy. So bundle up and go knock that sucker out! Then you can go sit in front of the fire with a finishers medal and a big grin on your face while you chow down on danish.

I TOTALLY hear you Ted! I was just whining the past couple days. My running mo-jo has gone straight out the door. I think I need to up the Vitamin D or something LOL

Good luck on Sunday man, you are going to rock the marathon.

Nice sequence of pics starting with the fire and ending with the jazuzzi. Just use those images in a positive way while you're running... It is going to be great running in Philadelphia - everyone there must still be upbeat because of the Phillies winning the Worlds Series!

Take a couple nips of Jagermeister and call me in the morning. You'll be fine. Good luck in Philly.

Nitmos said...

All of those things will be available to you AFTER you cross the finish line.

Get it done.

Then celebrate.

Good Luck.

Viv said...

LOL Ted! Cross that finish line then go for that massage and danish! The mojo maybe Austin Powers has it, grab it back :-)

It's so hard for me to get motivated to run in the cold. That fire looks pretty toasty!

Nat said...

Yeah. I want the guy in the photo to run me... god.
I was out tonight it's -3C/26F --- needed a toque and gloves... and layers...

Brrrr...

Still, Philly is a beautiful place -- and a great running town. It'll be fun.

Then you can indulge for a while. All the danishes you want... mmmmm... danish.

Hey look: Saturday night/Sunday morning will be the warmest morning of the week. A veritable heat wave! Work with it.... and good luck.

As Arnold Schwarzenegger says in Kindergarten Cop: Stop whining! You kids are soft. You lack discipline.

You'll be fine Ted. You'll run Philly and you will enjoy it.

Good luck on Sunday.

But yes, those pics looked MIGHTY appetizing.

Hi Ted

Just think how good (GREAT) you are going to feel after you run a great race. I hear you on the whole "cold thing" as I hate winter. You have definitely NOT lost your mojo and I am thinking you are going to have a great race.

Best of luck.
