Another HM, Another PR...
Hope you all had a good weekend, I know I did. My weekend was pretty good except for the weather. I took a day off from running last Saturday. I have decided to really pig out. I was mostly eating potato chips all afternoon. I had a fat lobster and dipped in a bucket of artery clogging butter. Baked potato ! Bowl of ice cream with chocolate syrup.
Yesterday, I participated in the 15th Annual Newport Liberty Half Marathon in Jersey City, NJ. Keep in mind, I ran last year as well and my time was 2:00:01. My goal was to get it under 1:45 this time and I did. Another HR....
My final time.... 1:44:49
Here are the stats.....
My splits....
The map (route)....
and finally, a picture of me....
I guess the secret to getting new PR is eat a lot of lobster the night before the race !
Truthfully, it was a very highly competitive half marathon I have participated. I've felt that I didn't do well but with the fact that I ran a new PR. The last three miles was truly a struggle for me.
Three critical mistakes I've made here....

Three critical mistakes I've made here....
- I took off too fast in the beginning.
- Unhealthy pre-race dinner ???
- I didn't put vaseline over my nipples. Stoopid. After the race, I was horrified to see two bloody spots on my shirt.

OMG Ted!! DANG you keep crankin out these PR's left and right! Absolutely amazing!!
It's amazing how much you've progressed over the span of a year. What's the secret? ;-)
Holy crap you are fast. Great job and congrats on the PR. Thanks for the tip. I will start eating less sushi and more lobster.
Nice run! You've been a PR machine lately. Sorry to hear about the nips though.
Kick ass!! Sorry about your nips, that does not sound like fun. Great that you PR'd even with your struggle at the end.
Maybe I need to switch to Saucauny's and eat lobster. NICE GOIN!
Congrats on the PR!!
You can never complain too much about a PR, but it does look like you tailed off in the second half of the race. That's probably why lobster isn't found on too many prerace checklists. ;-)
Still, nice job with the race. Protect those nips!
That's a huge PR! Way to go. Hope the nips recover quickly!
Smoking PR, you are getting these 1/2 mary PR's like everytime I...I don't know everytime I do something frequent. Great job!
Dude you kicked ass on that half, great job. I'll definitely be looking into the lobster and butter dinner, screw pasta! keep up the good work
I think the key to your PR was having that creepy old man in the tank chasing you! I'd PR if I had him on my butt.
Awesome job. I mean sub 8 min miles is awesome!
Get the Body Glide! that stuff rocks!
Nice PR. I am not believing that lobster pre-race meal plan. My gut is fluxing just thinking about it. Must have been just plain natural talent.
Who can you stop you!
Now I would like to have seen the bloody nipples pic. LOLOLOL!!!
What?!?! That is a GREAT PR! You are very speedy! Congratulations.
Sorry to hear about your nipples though. Ouch!
Another PR? But I just got caught up on your blog and read about the first one! :)
Congratulations, even though you've now made me starving for lobster.
Way to go! What a great time. I must look into the lobster and butter preparation routine.
Dude, congrats on your half mary PR!! I have to say, you look amazing in that photo!! Like a elite runner!! Lobster, here i come!!! Sorry about the nips :O(
M
Congrats on your half marathon personal record!! Makes one wonder how you'll do in a marathon with your current superb fitness! Any ideas? What is your marathon personal record?
Jeez! You're just ripping up the field these days! Great job and way to overcome those challenges.
Well done -- I am sad to hear the lobster worked because, I am definitely on a chicken budget.
If it's any consolation I got boob chafing on my 3-miler last night. (Do we know each other well enough for me to say that?)
Dang! That's a great time.
Too bad I don't eat lobster to try your training technique.
Hmm...buttery lobster before, bleeding nipples... I think we have a new nickname in store...SLIPPERY NIPPLE TED!
Congratulations! Strong run! Two bloody nips are well worth it for a 16 minunte PR leap.
Man, you rule! I love being able to look at the pacing and I think you did an awesome job. Grat splits and it sounds like you had a great time.... except for those nips and I know how that feels. Ouch and Congrats again!
HOLY Ted, you are amazing....Yikes, I'd better find a lobster FAST!!!
Congrat's you speedy speedster!
Nice. (the lobster and PR.)
Oh, and nice about the ice-cream, too.
Thanks for the comments! I like the thought of her being reunited with my grandfather. Congrats again on your PR!
Awesome job!!!
Its inspiring because it makes me think I can still drop my times significantly.
